Assistance with selection of the appropriate college
Once a short list of colleges have been selected, the scores from the entrance exam are in hand, and the student is closing in on a successful junior year the time is right for sending out applications. Many parents and students believe that more is better. I have been witness to students sending out application to as many as 19 schools. This student received multiple acceptances but could still only attend one.
I suggest a more targeted approach that involves close examination of programs, professors, campus amenities, rules, and regulations. This process should result the submission of applications to between three and six schools. These schools should be ranked in order of preference but the student should feel comfortable attending every school to which they apply.
